Privacy Notice

Last updated November 5, 2026

1. Who we are

Prediction Media Predictions (the "Game") is operated for Prediction Media by Prediction Media ("we", "us"). This notice explains what we collect when you play, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Prediction Media's own privacy policy applies to the rest of its website.

2. What we collect

Guest play: a random device identifier stored in a cookie on your browser, your predictions, and your points. No name, email, or phone is required to play.

If you create an account: the display name you choose (shown publicly on leaderboards), and, only if you provide them, your email address and/or phone number, with your notification choices. When you agree to receive email or text messages, we keep a record of the exact wording you agreed to and when.

Your date of birth: sign-up asks for it to check that you are eligible. We do not store the date. We keep only a record that you passed the check and confirmed you are at least 18, with the wording you agreed to and when. If the date shows you are not eligible, we keep nothing you entered.

Gameplay events: which questions you answered and when, whether you arrived from an embed or an ad, clicks on sponsor links, and your approximate region (your state, as your internet connection reports it, never anything more precise).

Browser notifications: if you turn them on, the notification address your browser gives us so we can reach that device.

3. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. This applies to every player, in every state, whether or not a law requires it.

4. Analytics and session replay

We use PostHog, an analytics service, to understand how the Game is used and to find and fix problems. It records the pages you visit, the predictions you make, errors on the page and, for some visits, a replay of the page as you used it. Text you type is hidden in replays.

PostHog never receives your name, email, or phone number, and it does not build a profile of you: we see what an anonymous visitor did, not who they are. Sign-in links are removed from page addresses before anything is sent. PostHog processes this data for us in the United States and may not use it for its own purposes.

When a Game ad unit appears on another website, we record that it was shown and whether it was tapped, with its size, design, approximate region, and device type. Ad units set no cookies and record nothing that identifies you.

We do not use advertising pixels, advertising cookies, or advertising SDKs.

Analytics are on unless you turn them off. You can turn them off for this device here at any time, and if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a choice to turn them off.

5. How we use information

To run the Game: scoring, streaks, leaderboards, and resolving questions.

To send you Game notifications (the daily set, streaks, results), only on channels you opted into. You can opt out at any time.

To report to the publisher and sponsors in aggregate: totals and percentages, never your individual identity. Sponsor reporting is aggregate-only by design.

To keep the Game fair and secure: moderating display names and keeping automated traffic out of predictions and counts.

To understand how the Game is used and to improve it.

6. Sharing with the publisher

Prediction Media is the publisher of this Game. If you create an account, your profile (display name and an engagement summary) is shared with Prediction Media as a member of their audience, under their privacy policy. Your email address or phone number is included only if you agreed to receive messages on it. Guests are never included.

7. Service providers

We use a small number of providers that process data on our instructions to run the Game: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (email), Twilio (text messages), PostHog (analytics), and your browser's own push service (notifications). They may not use it for their own purposes.

Questions are written and checked with AI tools from Google Cloud, working from published news. Those tools never receive your personal information.

8. Cookies and browser storage

The Game sets one cookie of its own: the device identifier that keeps your progress. Signing in links it to your account. If analytics are on, PostHog stores its own identifier in a cookie and in browser storage so visits can be counted, and your analytics choice is kept in browser storage. There are no advertising cookies.

9. Text messages

If you opt in to text messages, we send Game updates to the number you gave us. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop at any time, or HELP for help.

10. Retention and deletion

Gameplay records are kept while the Game operates so scores and leaderboards stay accurate.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page, or by emailing us. Deleting your account removes your display name, email, phone, the link to your device, and your notification subscriptions. Your past predictions stay only as anonymous records, so other players' scores and results stay accurate. We keep the record that you agreed to, and then withdrew, any messages, because it shows we only messaged you with permission.

11. Your choices and rights

Play as a guest with no contact details at all. Turn analytics off on this page. Opt out of any notification channel at any time. Ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by emailing privacy@prediction.media. We honor these requests regardless of where you live.

12. Children

The Game is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. You must be 18 or older to create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone who does not meet the age requirement, we close it and delete its personal information.

13. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted to authorized operators, and staff actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.

14. Changes

If we change this notice in a material way, we will post the update here with a new date before it takes effect.
